Ternium and UANL Present Excellence Awards

The award-winning students are enrolled in the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Chemical Sciences, and Earth Sciences. They achieved first place in their class during the January-June 2024 semester.

To promote and recognize academic excellence, the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), in collaboration with Ternium México, hosted the Ternium-UANL Excellence Award ceremony.

A total of 14 students who graduated from UANL’s engineering and steel industry programs during the January-June 2024 semester were recognized for achieving first place in their class.

“We are a University committed to excellence, and we are making progress in that direction. The results are evident, as demonstrated by these 14 young individuals who have reached this level through their dedication and hard work,” he said.

“The fact that we have the opportunity to train more and more young people every day at our institution demonstrates that education is the only instrument capable of changing society”.

A commitment to society and education

For over 12 years, Ternium México has recognized student talent and future professionals in the engineering and steel industry, with the goal of fostering dedication and excellence in education among young people.

To date, the steel company has honored the academic excellence of over 300 students in Nuevo León and Colima, where Ternium has a significant presence in the country.

Recognition of effort

At the ceremony, Eduardo Samuel Véliz González, a graduate in Chemical Engineering from the School of Chemical Sciences, addressed the award winners, emphasizing that effort will always be rewarded. He also noted that as graduates, they have a responsibility to further develop their skills to contribute to creating a society with better conditions.

“It doesn’t end here; there is a world outside the classroom waiting for our best. We must continue to explore our highest capabilities and work towards creating a more sustainable, progressive, and well-prepared society to meet both current and future challenges,” said Véliz González.
