UANL trains professors in gender equality

The Highest Academic Institution implements the first diploma course on gender equality for university professors; UANL President Santos Guzman Lopez describes the program as a benchmark for university regulations.

Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (UANL) strengthens its commitment to human rights by offering faculty members a diploma course on “Gender Equality, Sexual Diversity, and Inclusion”.

UANL President Santos Guzman Lopez led the inaugural ceremony of the course held on September 19 at the School of Law and Criminology (FACDYC by its Spanish acronym).

UANL President was together with the UANL Vice President for International Relations, Sandra Nora González Díaz; the Head of FACDYC, Óscar Lugo Serrato; the Coordinator of the School of Philosophy and Literature, Ludivina Cantú Ortiz; and in attendance from Spain, the Director of the Master’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Gender Studies at the University of Salamanca, Ángela Figueruelo Burrieza.

Model for university regulations

In his opening speech, Santos Guzman noted the support of Spanish experts in the design and implementation of this program that promotes gender equality within the university community. He also stressed the importance of this space for reflection as a framework for specific actions to generate changes in UANL regulations.
