Tigres crowned Champions of National University Games 2024

UANL Students clinched the top spot on the leaderboard with 3,930 points and dominated the medal tally with 164 medals, including 52 golds.

Tigres continue to etch their name in university sports history by securing their 19th title in the premier higher education competition, marking an impressive streak of 17 consecutive victories. This achievement reaffirms UANL’s position as a national leader in sports.

After 16 days of intense competition, the sports delegation from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León emerged victorious as the champions of the National University Games 2024. The event, held from May 12 to 27 in the city of Aguascalientes, showcased the outstanding athleticism and determination of UANL’s athletes.

At the conclusion of this edition, the feline team stood proudly at the pinnacle of the scoring table, amassing an impressive total of 3,930 points. Additionally, they dominated the medal table with a remarkable haul of 164 medals, including 52 gold, 50 silver, and 62 bronze.

Tigres showcased their supremacy across various disciplines, excelling notably in athletics, fencing, handball, judo, and karate. They also demonstrated prowess in women’s wrestling, softball, and beach volleyball. In men’s wrestling, they secured championship titles, along with victories in chess and flag football.

At the individual level, the standout performances of students Alejandra Paulina Ortiz (Law and Criminology) and Mayrán Cruz (Sports Organization) deserve special mention, each securing three gold medals in athletics. Ortiz emerged victorious in the 100m, 200m, and the 4x100m relay events, while Cruz showcased her prowess in the 400m hurdles, 4x400m relay, and the mixed 4x400m relay. Their remarkable achievements make them the athletes with the highest medal count for Tigres in this edition of UN2024.

Diego Rosales made an exceptional mark in karate-do, clinching three gold medals in Kumite, individual kata, and team kata events.

The Tigres delegation boasted nearly 600 athletes competing across 30 diverse sports disciplines. Supporting these athletes were 48 coaches, 42 assistants, and 20 judges, illustrating the comprehensive and well-supported effort behind their success.
