UANL celebrates outstanding careers with honoris causa doctorates

UANL President Santos Guzman Lopez awarded the highest academic distinction granted by the University to Joan L. Duda, Juan Villoro, and Angel Gil Hernandez, whose contributions have stood out.

American sports psychologist Joan L. Duda, Mexican writer Juan Villoro and Spanish biochemistry and nutrition researcher Angel Gil Hernandez were awarded honorary doctorates by the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon.

In a special ceremony of the University Council, UANL President, Santos Guzman Lopez, awarded the biretta, medal, and stole, and presented the certificate as a symbol of recognition to the honorees at the University Theater.

“This Official Ceremony is of special importance for the university community, as our University Council acknowledges those who honor with their outstanding personal and professional careers the purpose of the University, which is to create, preserve and disseminate culture for the benefit of society,” said Guzman Lopez.

In addition, UANL President mentioned that it is also a source of pride for Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon to be able to award this highest academic distinction to those who stand out for their merits and contributions in the different areas of knowledge.

Undoubtedly, their contributions will remain permanently in our institution and can be applied in cultural, scientific, and technological development, in innovation and in the construction of schools of thought, as well as in the human development of society”.
