UANL commands the forefront of innovation in Mexico

With 442 registrations granted by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon solidifies its position as one of the leading higher education institutions in the country for the highest number of inventions.

In celebration of World Intellectual Property Day, the Maximum Academic Institution of Nuevo Leon showcases its dedication to innovation and technology transfer, boasting 197 patents, 76 utility models, and 169 industrial designs.

UANL President Santos Guzman Lopez highlighted that inventions are predominantly developed in five key areas of knowledge: biotechnology, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, mechanics, and electricity.

Honoring excellence in Intellectual Property

Dr. Santos Guzman Lopez awarded 68 inventors and designers for their achievements, following their receipt of industrial property titles or registrations from IMPI in the previous year.

A ceremony held at the “Raúl Rangel Frías” University Library recognized a total of 43 professors and researchers, along with 25 students, for their achievements.

“We’ve made significant efforts to foster research and innovation across all fields of knowledge. Each winner in this edition represents substantial potential to bring to fruition the outstanding projects they’ve developed,” he remarked.

It brings us immense satisfaction at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León to mark the tenth edition of this prestigious award ceremony. While it’s essential to recognize the achievements of researchers, teachers, and students who have obtained patents and industrial model registrations, it’s equally vital to actively engage undergraduate and graduate students in research and other endeavors.
