UANL to Host Inaugural Congress on Academic Integrity

To promote a culture of academic integrity through the exchange of knowledge and experiences from experts in the field, Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, through the Department of Educational Innovation, will host the inaugural International Congress on Academic Integrity.

Featuring national and international speakers, the Congress will provide the UANL teaching community with valuable presentations aimed at promoting the ethical principles and values established by the International Center for Academic Integrity (ICAI). This initiative will help foster an environment of integrity within the university community.

In this inaugural edition, the congress will address topics such as the conceptualization of academic integrity, its application in international institutions, and its role in university life. It will also explore fundamental values and the appropriate use of artificial intelligence. The event will take place on November 21 and 22 at the Raúl Rangel Frías University Library.

The congress will feature speakers from leading universities in Mexico, including UANL, Tecnológico de Monterrey, and UDEM, as well as international experts on integrity issues. Notably, representatives from the global organization Turnitin and academic Jennifer Wright from the University of Central Florida will participate, with Wright offering a specialized workshop after the congress.

Fundamental Values of Academic Integrity

As an educational principle, academic integrity emphasizes that professors, students, researchers, and all members of an academic community engage in the practice of education responsibly and ethically. This commitment is guided by core values that shape their thoughts and actions, including honesty, trust, equity, respect, and responsibility.
